Submission Guidelines for Unallied

Submission Guidelines

Because of potential copyright issues, UNALLIED Magazine is only able to accept submissions from photographers.

ALL IMAGES MUST BE UNPUBLISHED AND NOT POSTED ONLINE PRIOR TO PUBLICATION.

Please specify in subject line whether you are submitting for print or online. If your editorial does not meet the below guidelines for our print edition, submit only for online.

Print Magazine
UNALLIED is a bi-monthly print publication. Each year a print issue is released in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
To submit to our print magazine, please read and FOLLOW the below guidelines.

Email a high-res digital contact sheet, containing no less than 9 images, to submissions@unallied magazine.
Within those 9 images, you should show us a minimum of 4 outfits or looks.
You may watermark or copyright your contact sheets but please do not let it obstruct the images.
If your work is chosen for publication, you must provide high-res final images, without any watermarks or copyrights. Images must be received within 15 days of notification. After this time, we can not guarantee their usage.

Online Editorials (webitorials/blogitorials)
Email a minimum of 9 images, or a contact sheet to, submissions@unalliedmag.com.
If your work is chosen for publication, you will receive a list of interview questions that will accompany your editorial on the blog.  These questions along with any images must be received by the date specified in your acceptance email or we can not guarantee their usage.

For both print and online:
Your shoot should be a collaboration of professionals consisting of, but not limited to, a makeup artist, a hair stylist, and a wardrobe stylist. Include a credit list with your initial submission. List out the names of all individuals that need credit, and spell them correctly. Please specify if you have wardrobe credits or we will not include them. Due to size limitations, wardrobe credits are NOT listed with online editorials.

All parties involved in the shoot must consent to having their work published in UNALLIED Magazine. Any models represented by agencies must have a signed release from their agent, even if they did the shoot as trade.

INCLUDE A HORIZONTAL/LANDSCAPE SHOT (or multiple shots!). We need these to create a spread as the first image in the magazine or online editorial. Try to always have your subject be slightly left or right of the center so that nothing is lost or cut off in the gutter (where the pages meet in the center of the magazine).

NAME YOUR SHOOT! While we’re happy to help you out if you need it, you most likely had a vision in mind of the story your editorial is telling, and we want it to have a name.
